Our Historic Roots.

Kent County is rich in notable sites, including many on the National Register of Historic Places. While touring, don’t miss the Delaware Public Archives. Beyond the documents, you’ll find exhibits commemorating the Great War and the First State as well as the special collaboration and exhibition, American Illustration Collection: The Centennial Exhibition. Then finish your journey into the past with a trip for vintage collectibles to Simply Charming and Simply Charming at the Mill in Wyoming, Delaware!

Milford’s history.

Milford was first settled in 1680 and its fascinating history lives on to this day. The Milford Museum contains over 300 years of artifacts, including Victorian silverware, dolls, baseball artifacts, wartime memorabilia, shipbuilding artifacts, toys from the 20s, and more. After your visit, be sure to take a stroll along the Mispillion River!

Relax with family over a great meal and craft beer at 33 West Ale House & Grill in Dover. Then add something sweet to your day with a decadent German dessert from Bavarian Bakery & Deli. If you’re in Smyrna, spend your morning perusing the unique cards and gifts at Smyrna Cards & Gifts. Then indulge in lunch and pastries at 1 North Main Eats & Sweets.

Revive your spirit with a nice riverside walk along the St. Jones Greenway in Dover. If you prefer less activity, restore with a peaceful trip out to Marydel to sip locally crafted wines at Harvest Ridge Winery. You could also try one of our craft spirits makers or cidery, or one of our local brewers, such as Fordham & Dominion Brewing Company in Dover or Mispillion River Brewing in Milford.

Start the New Year on a healthy note with a family First Day Hike on January 1st at Killens Pond State Park. These free, guided hikes are a great way to get to know the park through an expert’s eyes. With easy to moderate trails, nicely paved paths and a 66-acre millpond, it’s the perfect place to jump start your resolutions for the year!
