VENDOR AND PARADE REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR THE 84TH ANNUAL DOVER DAYS FESTIVAL
DOVER, DE – Trees budding, warm breezes blowing and a blanket of red, white and blue flowers will brighten Historic Downtown Dover this May when the Annual Dover Days Festival (May 5th & 6th) opens for the 84th time. To get prepared, registration is now open for community and business participation in this national award-winning event, which is also Kent County’s largest free family festival. The following applications are available online at www.DoverDaysFestival.com:
Vendor– Crafters, artists and artisans, resellers, nonprofit organizations, food, home and trade exhibitors are wanted.
Parade– Car clubs, marching groups, bands, fire companies, floats, schools, civic organizations and commercial entries are invited to participate in the parade, Kent County’s largest parade, which steps off on Saturday, May 6th at 9:30 a.m.
Sponsors –Entertainment, fireworks, Colonial artisans and several other aspects of the festival need sponsorship. Business and community organization interested in being a sponsor can contact John Doerfler at jdoerfler@visitdover.com
This year’s planning committee has chosen to celebrate Dover’s 300th Birthday as its theme and will serve as the kick-off to a year’s worth of Birthday celebration events. Programs, speakers and exhibits are currently being finalized. “This year’s Dover Days is extra special due to the event being the kick-off for the 300th Birthday Celebration for the City of Dover.” said Wendie Vestfall, Executive Director of Kent County Tourism and producer of the event. “We’re so excited to be sharing this milestone with the community. We have many new activities and entertainment planned for the Birthday celebration. We are also asking everyone who participates in the parade to theme their floats, costumes etc. We cannot wait to see what people come up with!”

BACKGROUND: The 84th Annual Dover Days Festival is one of the largest, longest-running, FREE, popular events in the state of Delaware dedicated to promoting the heritage and culture of Dover and the state of Delaware. Kent County Tourism coordinates the Annual Dover Days Festival at the request of the City of Dover. Dover Days hosts the largest parade in Dover with approximately 4,500 participants and watched by approximately 9,000 people; the Governor of the State of Delaware serves as the Grand Marshal. Activities reflect Delaware’s history and heritage as well as contemporary times and include, but are not limited to, the parade, traditional Maypole Dancing with 250 plus schoolchildren, vintage auto rides, colonial artisans’ village, car show, historic re-enactment groups representing the Revolutionary War, WW II and the Civil War, children’s activities, carnival, fireworks, exhibits and lectures as well all-day entertainment and more.
