Memorial Day Parade and Wreath Laying Ceremony

The Greater Harrington Historical Society in conjunction with the City of Harrington's 150th Anniversary Celebration will be holding a Memorial Day parade and wreath laying on Monday May 27, 2019.

The day will kick off with a Red, White, and Blue 5k Color Run at 7am. The parade will begin at 9am. A special wreath laying will occur at the Clark Family Memorial on Fleming St at 10am.

Also included at that time will be the dedication of a permanent display at the Historical Society honoring 2nd Lt. John Butler, the copilot, and one of the main logistical planners, of the glider operation on D-Day. He was killed in action that morning.

Following the events at the museum, wreaths will be laid in cooperation with the American Legion at Hollywood Cemetery, located east of Harrington, time is approximately 11am.

The Greater Harrington Historical Society Museum will be open until 4pm that day. Old fashioned soda fountain sodas and ice cream floats will be available to purchase. Also the author of the Images of America Harrington Delaware book will be on hand to sign copies of the book and talk more about the city's history.
