The Legend of the Jack 'o Lantern: Our modern Halloween traditions are rooted in Old World folklore. Most famous of these is the story of how the "Jack 'o Lantern" got its name, a yearn that winds its way back through the centuries to long-ago Ireland. Hear this cautionary tale for yourself with you visit the John Bell House (43 The Green) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and decorate a truly traditional Jack 'o Lantern of your very own!

First State Heritage Park: Catch guided tours of Legislative Hall, Delaware’s Capitol (411 Legislative Ave) and of Woodburn, the Governor’s House (until 1 p.m. at 151 Kings Hwy SW).

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a resource fair, crafts, food, music, and intermittent dance demonstrations at the Dover Public Library (35 Loockerman Plaza) from 12 to 3 p.m.

Join the Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity for a Rock the Block Safety Day community celebration, offering snacks & music on Governors Ave from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Enjoy free admission to the Johnson Victrola Museum at 375 S. New St. from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Participate in an all-ages art workshop at the Biggs Museum. Choose between tie-dyed bats for Halloween, clay calaveras for Día de los Muertos, masks for Samhain, and/or diyas for Diwali from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.. After, receive a free tour of the Tom Wilson: Super-Realist/Surrealist exhibition at 2 p.m. (40 mins). Located at 406 Federal St.

African Americans Play a Vital Role in the War of 1812 at the Old State House. Due to slavery in the US, Black Americans often chose different sides in the way of 1812. In this lecture, historic-site interpreter Tom Pulmano discusses the role played by African Americans in both the American and British war efforts. Part one of a four part series.

To the Old Churchyard with First State Heritage Park. Meet an interpreter at the gate of the Christ Church Burial Ground to learn more about cemeteries, mourning, their influence on pop culture, and their impact on our lives today.

Celebrate with the Dover Art League for their Grand Re-Opening! Learn more about exciting things planned for Dover and participate in activities for kids, a silent auction, raffles, and more! Light refreshments will be provided.
