Local African American Music
Spend an evening listening to the enchanting sounds of 3 musical groups at the Delaware State University Education & Humanities Theatre — Delaware State University Concert Choir, Delaware State University Gospel Choir, and Calvary Baptist Church of Dover Mass Choir. On February 1st, these three incredible groups are starting this month of celebration off right! Presented by the Delaware State News in partnership with the Biggs Museum of American Art, Delaware State University, Sankofa Cultural Arts Center and DonDel Productions, this event can’t be missed. African American History Live
This is the perfect opportunity to discover African American history in an engaging way! Come to the Sankofa Cultural Arts Center in downtown Dover to enjoy live presentations about the people and events that helped to shape Delaware’s Quaint Villages. We’ll also have musical entertainment throughout the event! Tickets are free, but seating is limited — so make sure to get here early! Choose from three show times the weekend of Friday February 9th:

Come get creative in the community studio on February 3rd with our family-friendly art event. Make hands-on art inspired by the exhibition themes and learn more about African-American culture at the Biggs Museum of American Art!
Looking to be even more inspired? On February 15th, some of the area’s most talented African American artists are treating visitors with a group exhibit at the Biggs Museum of American Art! The night will be centered around a special “Meet the Artists” reception. Stroll through the museum gazing at intriguing pieces while music by the Sankofa String Orchestra fills the rooms.
